The RTCCMC – What Lies Beneath Cornwall’s Hidden Gem

The Riviere Towans Chalet Camp is ~300 chalets nestled along the picturesque coastline of Cornwall but beneath the surface a percentage of the individual freehold chalet owners are fed up with the failings of the management company RTCCMC (Riviere Towans Chalet Camp Management Company Ltd). Breached contracts, missing money, breaches of the Companies Act 2006 are just a few allegations that have been mentioned to us.

The Directors of the RTCCMC are public record and can be viewed here RTCCMC Directors. By viewing the Directors you can also view which other Companies they run or have interests in or connections with, some of which would seem a clear conflict of interest.

In 2023 the Board reported that £128k of the Company funds were not accounted for, despite many member requests this outstanding amount, minuted as ‘missing’, to be accounted for, this has never been addressed.

Again in 2023 the RTCCMC was found illegally brokering waste without the correct registration in place and selling waste contracts to members. Even today it is reported they are still selling waste contracts leaving subscribing members at risk due to incorrect legal documentation being supplied. One member took the Company to court for a breach of the waste contract, the Directors appeared to not even understand what a contract was and ended up having the pay the claim plus costs.

In 2024 when a blue badge holder could not access their chalet due to building work turning the access into a mud pit, they were told by the RTCCMC Chairman “I strongly advise that you keep away from the area”.

Again in 2024 a member resolution to change the Companies solicitor, due to high costs and extremely poor reviews, was ignored without justification. It would appear the Company sought legal advice from the same solictor the resolution sought to change to give better value for money to members.

The RTCCMC has a habit of not only arguing with members but even going as far as taking legal action against Members, legal action which is funded by those same Members, how ironic. It is easy to see why members are angry when the Company paid a solicitor to draft letters about plants on the amenity land which is owned by all Members.

In a recent turn of events the Directors used the RTCCMC 2024 AGM Q&A emailed answers to try and turn members against each other using false information, a standard which falls far short of what is expected from Company Directors.

The RTCCMC Directors use an email system where they can contact all members, the problem with the system is it shows only the Directors biased opinions to suit their own agenda. Facts are often distorted and misleading, members rarely get to see the full picture of what is really going on.

If you are an RTCCMC member that wants to see the full picture and get involved in friendly discussions between RTCCMC members for the benefit of ALL members and the site as whole, then a good place to start is to join the Riviere Towans Association (RTA). They charge a small admin fee but you get to see the full picture, not a biased Directors picture, not to mention a discounted TV licence scheme which is worth way more the admin fee itself.
