In peak holiday season 2023 many owners of the chalets at Riviere Towans Chalet Camp in Hayle, were left in dismay when the site management company RTCCMC removed all the 240L commercial wheelie bins from the chalets despite members having paid for contracts with the management company.
When owners looked deeper into the waste contracts they had been paying RTCCMC for, they were shocked to find out that RTCCMC had no waste broker registration and had been illegally brokering waste. When members confronted the Chairman and Directors they tried to lie their way out of it, before applying for the wrong type of registration. After members again having to point out another RTCCMC error they did finally get the correct registration in place.
Despite finally registering as a waste broker owners still complained as the RTCCMC could not supply the correct legal documentation required by owners.
The fiasco, branded a waste trial, left holidaymakers having to carry their waste hundreds of metres in driving rain, many guests reporting it was totally unacceptable. Meanwhile owners saw broken promises that extra waste capacity would be added but nothing of the sort happened, just extra bin collections from centrally located 1100L waste containers.
It was reported that one owner was so fed up with the blatant illegal activity of the RTCCMC that they issued them with a small claims court claim for breach of contract.
Many owners told us they have now detached themselves from the central RTCCMC waste scheme, branding it not fit for purpose, and have arranged their own 240L bins at the chalets.
We understand RTCCMC is still selling a central waste service contract that leaves owners at risk of not having the required legal documentation.
Apparently the RTCCMC is still branding the disastrous “trial” (which has never ended) a success and continues to ignore members concerns.
